Fans of the hit CBS show Criminal Minds will be happy to know that Special Agent Emily Prentiss is set to return to the screen for an episode later this Spring. Paget Brewster who plays the beloved character will guest star in a future episode, bringing the former BAU team member back to America for a while.
The audience was first introduced to Paget Brewster in 2006, when Season 2 aired. On the show, Paget’s character is currently an Interpol Agent living in London, who according to CBS will return to help track down an “elusive international serial killer”. She will reportedly return when she realizes that the killer’s next victim may be in America.
CBS notes that Prentiss is a much loved character who was “known for her loyalty” and is “remembered for her dedication to JJ” – which she exhibited terrorist kidnapping fiasco.
We last saw Brewster’s character at the end of Season 7, when she said goodbye and moved to London in order to take the job at Interpol. She has returned once before since then, making this her second time guest starring in the show. We last saw Prentiss in 2014, when she appeared in the 200th episode of ‘Criminal Minds’.
Fox News reported that Executive Producer Erica Messer is keen to work with the star again, as Paget is “always welcome” to return to the show. Messer mentions that Paget is busy as she now has a “new show,” a reference to her new role in Grandfathered.
Paget is always welcome back. It’s always about scheduling. She’s busy, as she should be, she’s got a new show, and it also has to make sense story-wise. We don’t want to dip into that well too often. When she comes back, it has to be special and make sense. But she’s family and is always welcomed.
What are your thoughts on the return of Brewster as Agent Prentiss?
