Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s personal lawyer David Shimron gave testimony to police investigators on Monday regarding the two ongoing criminal investigations of the prime minister.
Police said Shimron was not questioned under caution and only gave testimony regarding Case 1,000, which involves allegedly illegal gifts the premier and his family received from billionaires and Case 2,000 regarding conversations Netanyahu held with Yediot Aharonoth publisher Arnon Mozes to allegedly weaken the Israel Hayom newspaper.
Shimron is also involved in another police criminal investigation of the “Submarine Affair” concerning allegations that Shimron lobbied Israeli defense officials on behalf of German shipbuilder ThyssenKrupp for a multi-billion shekel submarine sale.
A police official sought to make clear that Shimron did not give any testimony regarding the Submarine Affair.
Netanyahu was questioned for a fourth time earlier this month as the ongoing police investigation is said to be entering the final stages.
