“Criminal Minds” ended last week’s episode¬†unexpectedly with Derek Morgan and Savannah being the target of a shooting. This week’s episode¬†(season 11, episode 18) promo made it clear that [spoiler alert!] Savannah is the one that ends up taking the bullet. So, who is after Derek and what’s next for the BAU team member in the upcoming episode?

Kirsten Vangsness, who plays tech genius Garcia in the CBS series, spoke to TVLine¬†about this Wednesday’s (March 23) episode. She has co-written this episode with the series’ showrunner, Erica Messer. Additionally, “Criminal Minds” actor Matthew Gray Gubler has directed episode 18.

When asked if smart viewers have the information they need to figure out who is after Derek, Vangsness replied, “They do, but … On our best day, I would like to think it’s like a Scooby-Doo episode. There’s always that piece of information that nobody knew until the very end. It takes a piece of a thing and builds it out, definitely.” Which means we can expect an exciting twist towards the end of the episode.

The actress also shared that “A Beautiful Disaster” will resolve some aspects of Derek’s story very quickly in one part of the episode. Also, get your tissues ready because Vangsness warns, “I know some people who have shed copious amounts of tears watching it [episode 18], I can say that.”

Moreover, expect a meaningful moment between Derek and Garcia, one in which he addresses her as “baby girl.” Indeed, in the trailer for the upcoming episode, you can see Derek calling Garcia “baby girl” before shots are fired.
